Moon Youth Leadership Program (Ages 12-15)

Dates: May 25, May 26, June 1, June 2
Time: 5-8pm
Location: Robin Hill/Moon Park
Fee: $50 Moon Residents/$55 Non-Residents

Moon Parks & Recreation is here to create the next generation of leaders! The Moon Youth Leadership Program is a two-portion program focusing on developing integral life skills such as team building, communication, problem solving, and accountability. The initial portion of the program will be structured in group training in the classroom, problem solving activities, and guest speakers. The second portions of the program will allow participants to use their new skills to assist Moon Parks and Recreation Summer Camp Counselors. Participants can expect to gain 10 hours of community service and a certificate upon completion!

Program Highlights: CPR Certification, The Communication Compass, Personal Growth, Active Listening and Authentic Leadership.
All participants will receive a Personal Planner.

Upon completion of this program, teens will be eligible for leadership volunteer opportunities at Moon Parks & Recreation programs.


For all classes: 

  • Space is limited to 9 students, please register online or call the Moon Park office at 412-262-1703 ext 403. 
  • This class is weather dependent rain prevents the class from running, an additional class will be added to the session. 
  • The Robin Hill Center is closed to the public, for classes on the Robin Hill Patio, please walk around the main building to the back patio where the class will be held. Public bathrooms are available at the entrance of the park. 
  • For classes at Moon Park, multiple public bathrooms are available in the park.


Hip Hop Fitness (Aduts and Teens 14+)

Dates: Thursdays January 7-February 11, 2021
Time: 7:00-8:00pm
Location: Robin Hill Center
Fee: $45 Moon residents/$50 non-residents
Join Amy for some cardio dance exercise! You can take the moves up to make them harder or modify for any fitness level.
Our new instructor wants to help every with fun fitness through dance where they can leave feeling like they had a great workout and had fun!
Class will include warm up and cool down also.
Amy has been teaching Zumba, Insanity and more since 2009.

Pilates (Adults and Teens 15+) (Registration Not Open Yet, updates coming soon)

The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of stretching/strengthening exercises that work the entire body. Expect to flatten your abs, strengthen your core muscles, increase flexibility, firm buttocks/thighs, and improve your posture. For all fitness levels. Bring a mat, light hand weights (3lbs or less) and water.

Barre (Adults & Teens 15+) (Registration Not Open Yet, updates coming soon)

A total body workout that lifts your seat, tones your thighs, abs, arms and burns fat. This workout includes elements of ballet, Pilates, and traditional toning exercises.The class starts with standing barrework. The class ends with core work and a series of deep stretches. Bring a mat and a pair of 1-3lb dumb bells. For all fitness levels.

Yoga: Beginners and Beyond (Ages 15+ and Adults)

Dates: Thursdays January 7-28, 2021

Fee: $40 Moon residents/$45 Non-residents -per 4 week session- No Drop-ins. 
No experience required! Instructor Jen Stratakis E-RYT 500, will lead you through an hour-long class, which includes standing and seated poses, breathwork, and guided relaxation. Modifications are given to accommodate everyone. With regular practice, yoga can improve lung capacity, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, mental calm, and more.  
Bring a mat, water bottle, and any other yoga props you may have. Blocks are especially helpful.   

Pound® Fitness (Adults and Teens 15+)

Dates:  Tuesdays January 12-Feb 16, 2021
Time: 7:00-8:00pm

Fee: $45 Moon residents/$50 non-residents ($10 Drop-In)
POUND® is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, strength movements, plyometric and isometric poses. Through continual upper body motion using our lightly weighed exercise drumsticks, called Ripstix, you’ll turn into a calorie-torching drummer, POUNDing off pounds as each song flies by!

Totally Toned (Adults & Teens 15+)

Dates: Mondays, January 11-February 22 (No class Feb 1)
Times: 6:30-7:30pm
Location: Robin Hill Carriage House
Fee: $45 Moon residents/$50 non-residents (per 6 week session)
This class is designed to help tone your entire body including abs, thighs, back, arms, and glutes. It is appropriate for all fitness levels. Bring hand weights, a mat and water.


Safe Sitter® Babysitting & Safety (Grades 6-8)

Fee: $45 Moon residents, $55 non-residents
Location: Moon Township Municipal Building
Grades: 6th-8th
Do you feel ready to stay home alone, watch your brothers and sisters while your parents are gone, or babysit for younger children? Then maybe it's time for Safe Sitter®. Safe Sitter® is for young teens in grades 6-8 who are ready to learn the skills they need to care for themselves and younger children.  In addition, Safe Sitter® teaches young teens life and business skills, so that they know how to be prepared, be responsible, and be considerate whether they are babysitting or doing odd jobs for family, friends, or neighbors.
You'll have fun. You'll learn a lot. And at the end of the day, you can proudly say, "I am a Safe Sitter®!"
