Senior Connection


  • Programs with a drop-in option do not require pre-registration.

Beginner's Zumba® (Ages 13+ and Adults)
Mondays     April 29 - June 10 (No Class May 27)
Time: 6:00p.m.-7:00p.m.
Location: Moon High School Fitness Room
Fee: $45 Moon residents/$50 Non-residents, per 6 week session
This class is designed for you to have fun while you burn calories. It is a great way to begin an exercise regime. Beginner's Zumba® is a combination of Latin based dance moves; salsa, cumbia, soca, flamenco, samba, hip-hop, and more that will really make you sweat! Dance experience not required.

Cardio Tennis (Adults)
Dates: Wednesdays, July 24 - September 4
Time: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Location: Moon Park Tennis Courts
Fee: $20 drop-in per day or purchase a 7 week session for $120 (includes 1 free class)
This is a high impact program with fun on the court. Music, ladders, easy-to-hit balls, and lots of running will have you burning 800-1000 calories in an hour! Perfect for someone looking for a change in their fitness routine.

FREE Beginner Tennis Clinics (Adults)
Dates: Saturdays, May 4, June 1, July 13, August 3
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

This is a free tennis clinic for adults who have never played tennis. Certified professionals will teach each session focusing on skill development.

The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of stretching/strengthening exercises that work the entire body. Expect to flatten your abs, strengthen your core muscles, increase flexibility, firm buttocks/thighs, and improve your posture. For all fitness levels.

Pound® (Adults and Teens 15+)
Tuesdays,  May 14 - June 18  (May 21 Class at Robin Hill)
Time: 6:30p.m.-7:15p.m.
Location: Moon Township Municipal Building
Fee: $45 Moon residents/$50 non-residents ($10 Drop-Ins)
POUND® is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, strength movements, plyometric and isometric poses. Through continual upper body motion using our lightly weighed exercise drumsticks, called Ripstix, you’ll turn into a calorie-torching drummer, POUNDing off pounds as each song flies by!

Public Swimming (All Ages - Moon Township Residents Only)
Starts Monday - Friday, September 10 throughout the school year
Time: 7:45p.m.-9:00p.m.
Location: Moon Area High Natatorium
Fees:  $3 Adults 18+; $2 Children 3-17; Children under 2 free
Registration: Just drop in and swim! 
Enjoy an evening at the pool.  Children under10 must be accompanied by an adult.  Lap swimming available.

Public Summer Swimming (All Ages - Moon Township Residents Only)
Dates: Monday- Thursday June 10th through July 11th (No Swim on 7/3 and 7/4)
Time: Noon - 5:00p.m.
Location: Moon Area High School Natatorium
Fees:  Adults, 18 and over- $3
           Children ages 3-17- $2
           Children under 2 free
Registration:  Just drop in and swim!
Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult

Senior Workout with Linda Francis
Dates: Wednesdays,  May 22 - June 26
Times: 9:30a.m.-10:30a.m.
Location: Moon Township Municipal Building Auditorium
Fee: $21 Moon residents/$25 non-residents, per 6 week session (Drop In for $4)
Come out and meet our instructor, Linda Francis! This class will help seniors maintain a fitness level to stay mobile. It is a “LOW” impact aerobics class that will work on balance and strengthening while having fun and meeting new people.

Totally Toned (Adults & Teens 15+)
Dates: Mondays  April 29 - June 10 (No Class May 27)
Times: 7:15p.m.-8:15p.m.
Location: Moon High School Fitness Room
Fee: $45 Moon residents/$50 non-residents (per 6 week session)
This class is designed to help tone your entire body including abs, thighs, back, arms, and glutes. It is appropriate for all fitness levels. Bring hand weights, a mat and water.

Yoga: Basics and More (Ages 15+ and Adults)
Dates: Tuesdays   May 7 - 28 (4 weeks)  May 21 Class at Robin Hill

                              No Classes July or August
Time: 7:30p.m.-8:30p.m.
Location: Moon Township Municipal Building
Fee: $40 Moon residents/$45 Non-residents -per 4 week session ($12 Drop-Ins)
        $60 Moon residents/$65 Non-residents -per 6 week session ($12 Drop In)
Whether you are yoga-curious or yoga-proficient, this is the class for you. No experience required. Instructor, Jen Stratakis E-RYT, will lead you through an hour-long class, which includes standing and seated poses, breathwork and guided relaxation. Modifications are given to accommodate all levels of yoga experience. With regular practice, yoga can improve lung capacity, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, mental calm and more. Participants should bring a yoga mat and water. Namaste!


Splash – Water/Mixed Media Art Classes (Adults 18+)
Thursdays, April 4 - May 23
Times: 10:00a.m.– 3:00p.m.
Location:  Robin Hill Center – 949 Thorn Run Rd., Moon Twp. PA
Fee: Moon Residents $74 Residents, Non-Residents $79. *Fee does not include supplies.
This class is designed for new and returning students. This is an eight-week course designed to engage all students in the fun and exciting world of water-based materials. No previous experience is necessary - just a desire to have fun.


What is the Senior Connection? - The Moon Parks and Recreation Senior Connection offers senior programming to anyone 55+ in Moon Township as well as all surrounding communities.  Membership is FREE.  Membership Cards can be obtained at the Moon Parks office in Moon Park during business hours or at the Carriage House in Robin Hill Park during a Senior Connection Social. 

Registration - Please call 412-262-1703 ext. 404 Tuesday through Thursday to register for the following programs.  Also, on the first Wednesday of each month at the Carriage House from 11am-Noon, we will be available on-site for registrations.  Other registration options are listed at the top of this page.  Payment is due at time of registration.  Senior Connection discounts cannot be applied when registering online. 

Cancellation Policy for Senior Connection Programs - Cancellations made less than 7 days before the event will incur a 25% cancellation fee.  Refunds will be made to your account.  No Show – No Refund.

Senior Connection Socials (Adults 55+)

Open to anyone age 55 and older. Come and enjoy fun and friendship every Wednesday!  Join us for complimentary beverages, coffee, snacks, popcorn and conversation. Drop in or stay all day. Many activities to suit many interests.  Monthly schedules available at the socials.  On the first Wednesday of each month from 11am-Noon, we can process registrations on-site.

Line Dancing with Marilyn (55+)
Date: Tuesdays
Time: 10:30a.m. - 11:30a.m.
Fee: $5 per person

A fulfilled hour of dance and exercise.  All levels of dance skill welcome.

UPMC’s National Senior Health and Fitness Day Bus Trip at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium (Ages 55+)
Date: Wednesday, May 29
Time: Bus departs Carriage House at 9:00 a.m.; returns around 4:30 p.m.
Fee: $10.00 per person – Must be a Senior Connection Member – It is free to join!
Last Day to Register: Wednesday, May 22
A fun day to celebrate you at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium.  Your adventure will be packed with a full schedule of senior related activities, information workshops, music, vendors, health screenings plus more!  Water and snacks provided.

Miniature Golf Outing at Scally’s Golf Center (Ages 55+)
Date: Monday, June 3
Time: 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m.
Fee: $17.00 per person

Join in on a fun and challenging round of miniature golf.  Followed by an outdoor patio pizza party.  Includes – Pizza, unlimited cold beverages, tossed salad, ice cream, and prizes. 
Cowboy BBQ Picnic (Ages 55+)
Date: Friday, June 14
Time: 3:30p.m-6:30p.m.
Fee: $25.00 per person

Location:  Rotary Pavilion in Moon Park
A hootin’ & hollarin’ good time.  Wear your cowboy/cowgirl gear and saddle up for a BBQ Picnic, Beer with the Root (a.k.a. Root Beer) and of course water for whistle wetting.  Dance and sing to a live fiddle and guitar singing duo.  Dessert and giveaways too.
Shanksville Bus Trip (Ages 55+)

Travel by motor coach to the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, PA.  Keep in Mind – This will involve lots of walking, limited rest rooms, and shaded areas.  Followed by a buffet lunch and shopping at the Seven Springs Resort, Champion PA.
Lunch with the Birds at the National Aviary of Pittsburgh (Ages 55+)

Travel to Pittsburgh’s award-winning National Aviary.  Start with a delicious served lunch of pasta Florentine, mixed green salad, rolls, dessert, and beverages in the Rose Garden.  Followed by personal visits from three of the Aviary’s most popular species of birds.  Stroll, learn, discover and shop for the remainder of this lovely afternoon.
Wild World of Animals Intergenerational Family Event (Ages 55+)

Bring your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews or any special child in your life.  A fun afternoon for ALL.  Featuring – games, prizes, lunch, ice cream, beverages, balloon animals and a wild animal show.  Come and enjoy this wild and wonderful afternoon.  This event has been partially sponsored by UPMC.
Casino and Hello Dolly Bus Trip (Ages 55+)

This exciting trip starts at the Rivers Casino with a $10.00 slot bonus and $10 food coupon.  (Must have current photo I.D.)  Try your luck, dine at any of the casino restaurants then off to the Benedum for an evening performance of the Tony award winning musical – Hello Dolly featuring Broadway legend Betty Buckley.  Surely an evening to remember.
Hartville Ohio Shopping Bus Trip (Ages 55+)

This trip is back by popular demand.  Our first stop will be at the Hartville Marketplace and Huge Outdoor Flea Market (weather permitting).  Combined you can visit 50+ vendors and stores.  Then a short bus ride to the Hartville Kitchen, Bakery, collectibles shop and hardware.  If you’re a shopper, this ones for you.  Meals on your own.
