Meet the Instructors


Nancy Bush:
Nancy has taught various classes with Moon Parks & Recreation since Mrs. Francis B. Nimick donated the Robin Hill Center to Moon Township in 1971.  Some of the classes she has taught have been mixed media, clay, and basic art, but currently she offers watercolor painting with a program called Splash.  She obtained her Art Education degree from Penn State University and started instructing in 1952 in schools all over Pennsylvania.  Nancy has taught at multiple locations such as Sweetwater in Sewickley, North Hills Art Center, and even her own home!  She is also one of the founding members of West Hills Art League who will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2016.  Some of her past times include skiing and gardening.

Judy Elias:
Judy has been with Moon Parks & Recreation for many years teaching Core Conditioning/Pilates.  Judy has obtained certifications including ISMA Personal Trainer, PiYo, Yogafit, Zumba, Mad Dog Spinning, AFAA, and Peak Pilates Level III Comprehensive.  She has been teaching various classes such as PiYo, Pilates, and Barre Express for 25 years.  Other jobs that Judy takes on are Choir Director for St. Margret Mary in Moon Twp., Host of Core Conditioning on MCA-TV, Group Exercise Fitness Instructor at World Class fitness, and Spinning/Pilates Instructor at Clearly Pilates in Sewickley.  In her spare time she enjoys gardening, playing piano, coaching softball, and having fun with her family.  “There is no elevator to success.  You have to take the stairs.”

Jen Stratakis:
Jen has been with Moon Parks & Recreation for over five years, but has been teaching yoga for over ten total. For MP&R, she teaches Yoga: Basics and More. She received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Kent State and a Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University. Her yoga training consists of 200 hours at Yoga H’om and 500-hour teacher training at the Himalayan Institute; along with specialty trainings in Aerial Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Principle-Based Partner Yoga, and LoveYourBrain (yoga for TBI survivors.) In addition to teaching for MP&R, she instructs at several different studios and gyms in the Pittsburgh area, as well as instructing Stand-Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) Yoga for L.L. Bean. She has attained the E-RYT 500 credential from Yoga Alliance, making her one of the area's most experienced and highly trained yoga instructors. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, distance cycling, paddleboarding, and supporting local humane causes. “Yoga is not about learning to stand on your head. It’s about learning to stand on your own two feet.”
Paola Sanchez:
Paola teaches Zumba here at Moon Parks & Recreation.  Zumba is a fitness combination of Latin based dance moves with music along with different rhythms from around the world.  Dance experience is not required!  She has been with Moon Parks for 9 months.  Paola received her Zumba certification and has been teaching Zumba for 4 years at different locations including Moon and Robinson Township.  When she isn’t teaching, she enjoys spending her free time with her family.
Catherine Hollein:
Catherine is our Beginner Zumba instructor at Moon Parks & Recreation for the past 3 years.  In 2009 she received her Zumba certification.  While teaching Beginner Zumba, she is also a Spanish Teacher at Quaker Valley Middle School.  In her spare time, Catherine enjoys reading, walking, and traveling.  “Zumba for your Bumba!”
Earl Edwards:
Earl has worked with Moon Parks & Recreation for 2 years teaching different programs.  His programs include: Digging our History, Native American History at Olson and Moon Park, and Your Grandparents Toys at our summer camps.  He has also talked at Robin Hill and at an open house at Coventry Cabin located on the Robin Hill Park property.  Earl is a retired Civil Engineer but stays busy full time.  While staying busy, he is a history buff that enjoys fishing an also assists with Television production with MCA-TV.  “I chose to be happy.”
Karla Tobias:
Karla has taught Totally Toned, which is a low impact exercise that is designed to tone your whole body using weights.  She has been with Moon Parks & Recreation for 3 years.  She has trained with a certified instructor who worked through their program, but has been involved with toning and weights for many years before being asked to teach a class.  Her greatest achievement is being able to teach toning because it is her passion.  She keeps the classes interesting with new exercises that she spends several hours a week preparing.  Karla had worked with US Airways until they moved their offices, but now just teaches her toning classes.  In her spare time Karla enjoys going to Zumba, and spending time with her son.  She is also on the board for Pittsburgh Musical Theatre.  “All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them.”-Walt Disney
Linda Francis:
Linda has been instructing Senior Fitness with Moon Parks & Recreation for the last 4 years.  Linda has certifications in Senior Fitness Associates Training and Fitour.  She has spent the past 41 years teaching fitness programs.  She is a retired flight attendant who teaches other senior classes and also has a show called Senior Workout on MCA-TV.  In her spare time, Linda enjoys biking on the Montour Trail where she also serves as a volunteer monitor for the trail.  She also enjoys doing yard work, playing tennis, and reading.  “You have to keep moving, no matter what your age, walk if nothing else.”
Kennedy School of Driving:
Kennedy school of Driving has been using Moon Parks & Recreation to serve local students for driving theory and lessons for many years.  Their staff has a combined 300 years of experience.  They offer their program every season to ensure everyone has a chance to take it.  The class consists of theory for 30 hours a week combined with behind the wheel training for six hours a week.  This program is known as the “30+6”.  Interested students must have a valid permit to participate.  Mission:  To teach novice drivers to develop safe and responsible driving techniques.

Bitty Ballet / Sarah Misko:
Sarah is the lead instructor for the Bitty Ballet Pittsburgh program and began instructing Bitty Ballet with Moon Parks & Recreation in 2017.  Sarah has been dancing since the age of three and performing on the musical theatre stage since six. Sarah studied at Shenandoah Conservatory with a focus in musical theatre performance and a minor in dance, specializing in jazz and tap. Upon graduation, Sarah spent two years with the National Tour of Fiddler on the Roof and has performed in nearly all 50 states with this and several other regional theatre and dance companies.

Always having a strong connection with little ones, Sarah has served as a trusted nanny to the elite of NYC and the Greater Pittsburgh area. A self-proclaimed “yogi,” Sarah hopes to bring light and joy to your children through the power of active movement, and plans to use her theatrical experience to enhance the overall journey of your precious ones as they learn to grow, interact and express themselves through dance.
