Meet the Instructors

Judy Elias:
Judy is a Core Conditioning/Pilates and Barre instructor at Moon Parks & Recreation.  She has obtained certifications including ISMA Personal Trainer, PiYo, Yogafit, Zumba, Mad Dog Spinning, AFAA, and Peak Pilates Level III Comprehensive.  She has been teaching various classes such as PiYo, Pilates, and Barre Express for over 25 years.  Other jobs that Judy takes on are Choir Director for Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Moon Twp., host of Core Conditioning on MCA-TV,  group exercise fitness instructor at World Class fitness, and Spinning/Pilates Instructor at Clearly Pilates in Sewickley.  In her spare time she enjoys gardening, playing piano, coaching softball, and having fun with her family.  “There is no elevator to success.  You have to take the stairs.”

Amy Humberston
Amy is a Hip Hop Cardio teacher with Moon Parks & Recreation. She has previously obtained certifications in Insanity, Zumba Basic 1, Zumba Basic 2, Zumba Kids & Zumba Kids Jr., and her Primary Group Exercise Certification through AFAA. She has been teaching fitness classes since 2009 and has previously taught at several gyms in the surrounding area. Amy has a degree in Health and Physical Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and works a full time job here in Moon Township. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, getting outside, and playing with her dog Murry. Come dance with her!

Jen Stratakis:
Jen is a Yoga instructor at Moon Parks & Recreation. She received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Kent State and a Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University. Her yoga training consists of 200 hours at Yoga H’om and 500-hour teacher training at the Himalayan Institute; along with specialty trainings in Aerial Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Principle-Based Partner Yoga, and LoveYourBrain (yoga for TBI survivors.) In addition to teaching for MP&R, she instructs at several different studios in the Pittsburgh area, and is the cofounder and instructor of NamastHay Goat Yoga of Pittsburgh.  She has attained the E-RYT 500 credential from Yoga Alliance, making her one of the area's most experienced and highly trained yoga instructors. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, distance cycling, paddleboarding, and supporting local humane causes. “Yoga is not about learning to stand on your head. It’s about learning to stand on your own two feet.”
 
 
Karla Tobias:
Karla is a Totally Toned instructor at Moon Parks & Recreation.  Totally Toned is a low impact exercise that is designed to tone your whole body using weights.  She has trained with a certified instructor who worked through their program, but has been involved with toning and weights for many years before being asked to teach a class.  Her greatest achievement is being able to teach toning because it is her passion.  She keeps the classes interesting with new exercises that she spends several hours a week preparing.  Karla had worked with US Airways until they moved their offices, but now just teaches her toning classes.  In her spare time Karla enjoys going to Zumba, and spending time with her son.  She is also on the board for Pittsburgh Musical Theatre.  “All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them.”-Walt Disney
 
Linda Francis:
Linda is a Senior Fitness instructor at Moon Parks & Recreation.  Linda has certifications in Senior Fitness Associates Training and Fitour.  She has spent over 47 years teaching fitness programs.  She is a retired flight attendant who teaches other senior classes and also has a show called Senior Workout on MCA-TV.  She has been on MCA-TV for 36 years and is one of the longest volunteers.  In her spare time, Linda enjoys biking on the Montour Trail where she also serves as a volunteer monitor for the trail.  She also enjoys doing yard work, playing pickle ball, and reading.  “You have to keep moving and using light weights, no matter what your age, walk if nothing else.”
